prj. parente: pensar e fazer um filme
prj. parente: thinking and making a film
TCC Arquitetura e Urbanismo - UFMG, 2025 Undergraduate Thesis in Architecture and Urbanism - UFMG, 2025

A research dossier devoted to the development of the essay film Parente, in which I investigate an archaeological assemblage in Queluzito, a municipality in the Paraopeba Valley bordering Conselheiro Lafaiete, where I was born. (state of Minas  Gerais)

The work is organized in two sections. The first, Thinking the Film, opens with the Notebook of Investigation and Invention, where I documented what I call movements, actions, and ruminations in relation to and toward the film. In it I recorded not only practical and objective matters but also more intimate unease, operational events, and impasses that research almost always wants to hide. I also think of it as the filtering and confluence of readings and references worked through in writing. Something between a diary, a script, and a draft, perhaps all of these at once, which would later help me organize into images this profusion of ideas of such diverse natures. Next, still within this section, are two essays resulting from theoretical elaboration: In This World, No Marco Temporal Is Made* and The Spark of the Irresistible. Finally, the section Making the Film gathers the first practical developments toward realizing the project, consisting of the script and a dossier of visual references.

* The marco temporal (temporal cutoff) is a legal thesis in Brazil that restricts Indigenous land claims to territories occupied as of October 5 of 1988, the date the Federal Constitution was promulgated.
